The purpose of the Suffolk Gem and Mineral Club is to promote cultural, educational, and scientific interest in mineralogy, and to develop members' skills in lapidary arts and jewelry crafts.
The Suffolk Gem and Mineral Club, Inc. was formed in 1978 and incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in New York State in October, 1979. The founders consisted of hobbyists and rock hounds, representing all walks of life.

The Suffolk Gem and Mineral Club is a member of the Eastern Federation and American Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies, Inc. whose tremendous resources are available for our use. Through them, the Club has access to DVDs and books. Through newsletters both Federations keep us informed on the latest news and upcoming events in our field of interests.
