Welcome to all the members of the club and to anyone interested in joining the family of mineral enthusiasts. Feel free to attend one of our monthly meetings to meet others with similar interests and to enjoy a hands-on demonstration, presentation, or other planned activity.
Monthly club meetings are held at the East Islip Public Library, 381 main St.Montauk Hwy,
[7:00-9:00] on the third Monday of the month, except for holidays and in July and August. Coffee and cake is served.

Mitch Portnoy and Dr. Vivien Gornitz lectured on Opals. Vivien Gornitz focus on the mineralogy and geology of opal. Mitch gave an overview of the art and folklore of opal usage in global cultures.

THE CLUB AND GUESS WERE TOTALLY CAPTIVATED ON THE POWER POINT PRESENTATION SHE GAVE. SHE SPOKE ON AN OVERVIEW OF GEMSTONES, THE GLOBAL GEM TRADE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF FAIR TADE GEMS.
